My Last Show as a Band (for now)

I’ve been performing solo for a long time, but Steve Chab the band began in October of 2010. The day before Thanksgiving of 2011, my band (or what was left of it) played its final show. The concert was a Wings of Azrael reunion show at The Smiling Moose in Pittsburgh, PA featuring Lonely Ghost Parade (includes members of Zao), Red Hands, and Steve Chab.

Check out Red Hands! They have dark, dissonant guitar riffs and chaotic vocals; it reminds me of Glassjaw or Far-less.

Anywho, our drummer had already quit for a better paying position in an 80s cover band, but my bass player and good pal Chris stuck with me through the end of our concert schedule. Chris, thank you so much.

Note: Chris is also the bass player of Pittsburgh’s nerd thrash trio, Dwarf Fortress.

Insight From Chino

I wasn’t worried about the band falling apart, as I had (and still have) a backup plan.

My friend Tim showed me an interview with Chino from ††† (Crosses), where Chino was talking about the “specialness” of Crosses.

"It’s more or less just putting out some music. I wouldn’t say we may never play [live]; we might, we may not, I don’t know. But if we do, I’m sure it would be a specialty type of thing."

I’d like to adopt that mentality.

New Positioning

I’m a songwriter and recording artist. My real drive comes from creating music, which I can do on my own, without a band. Don’t get me wrong, a band would be awesome, but it’s not a great allocation of my time at the moment. From this moment on, when I perform live, it will be something special, which only happens a few times a year.

In the meantime, I’m going to focus on writing and recording my music and producing and coaching songwriters and bands. Stay posted by following me on SoundCloud, Tumblr, or Facebook.

I went to see Glassjaw at Altar Bar on Monday. I’m a pretty big fan, but now I’m a huge fan. The show was awesome!

The guitarist did this sexy, hip-hop dance while playing (even during the heavy parts). I might have to steal it! Daryl spoke very little and performed like a champ.

They played Coloring Book EP in it’s entirety as the encore. Then, they gave away Coloring Book EP to each fan on exit. It was truly an amazing show!

I recorded video of Ape Dos Mil. Check it out:

I even got a set list at the end!!
